Loving London

I never wanted London to be my favorite city. The language spoken here is English, and I come from an English speaking country. How could London ever be as wonderful as Paris, Rome, or Madrid? And then there is the weather. Anyone who has even spent anytime in London (be it a day or a week) has seen the rain. The rain might be a light one that feels like feathers brushing across your face, and it lasts for mere minutes before moving away. It might also be the kind that last all day and night, and makes you wonder why in the hell you ever decided to do your hair.

London, my favorite city?

I think it is. We stopped here on our move to the United Arab Emirates – a short week and a half break before stepping into the summer heat of the Arabian Gulf.

At first glance, London might appear very zipped up and serious.

But it is fun and even sexy. It is rare that you will see a woman walking around in her Lululemon attire unless she intends to go to the gym. Ladies (even those who work) lunch, and they do it so well. Men are not afraid to wear pink, and the people have a wonderful sense of humor.

Back to the rain… the rain makes for gorgeous flowers. Beyond gorgeous. There is green and color everywhere you look. While it is very much a city, it is easy to step off the pavement and sit among some of the most beautiful garden in the world.

Yes, even if I am just watching the rain fall and the grass grow and listening to a very polished version of English, I adore London.
