Friends in Arabia

It should come as no surprise that my daughter is completely comfortable holding a bird, which can reach a speed of close to 200MPH when rushing towards its prey. Its beak is used as a weapon, but that didn’t seem to phase her as she stroked its chest, and at one point even embraced the magnificent bird. “Come closer.” Its owner whispered. No, not in a taunting way, but in a manner that showed he knew that she respected the bird and could be trusted with it. She has, after all, spent her life around these animals. I briefly thought about what it would take to get a falcon as a pet. I saw the price, and realized that a down payment on a new home might be a wiser investment. For now we will continue to marvel at all that surrounds us in Arabia.
